COURSE CONTENT
Principles of drug delivery: objectives, preformulation and formulation (2 hours).
Quantitative compartmental and non-compartmental pharmacokinetics Mathematical analysis. Pharmacokinetic parameters (4 hours)
Bioavailability: mechanisms and kinetics of drug absorption. Oral absorption (4 hours).
Drug release: mathematical elaboration of dissolution (Noyes Withney, particle size, solid state, polymorphism, solid solutions, pH), diffusion (Fick, Higuchi, Peppas), swelling (Deborah number , case I and case II, erosion, cleavage. (7 hours).
Physicohemical characterization and micrometrics particle size analysis, thermal analysis, surface analysis, density.(7 hours)
Solid systems: powders, granulates, capsules and tablets (5 hours)
Disperse systems: general properties and classification. (3 hours)
